For this week’s Extra Credit podcast, we’re shaking up the format. Rather than interviewing a researcher or author about their recent work, we asked dynamic duo (and real-life couple) Kayla Galang and Will Kurzner to interview each other about how they balance their day jobs with UT’s Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services, or LAITS, and their creative work off-campus.
Galang is an up-and-coming filmmaker whose short film When You Left Me on That Boulevard (the source for the film still above!) premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival — and went on to win the festival’s prestigious Short Film Grand Jury Prize. When she’s not working on her own projects, she’s also a head producer with the LAITS video team.
Kurzner is a musician and sound composer on top of his work as an audio specialist with LAITS. He’s composed for and scored several of Galang’s films, including When You Left Me on That Boulevard, as well as other video projects. His music can be found online here.
